Johanna (Josie) Chase has been engaged in painting and working with clay for the majority of her life. Having operated a full-time studio business for a period, she specialized in designing, creating and selling slip-cast tableware featuring her original ceramics in New Bedford, MA.
Following twelve subsequent years of instructing high school art and ceramics in MA, Johanna retired to the picturesque coast of Maine, where she established a personal studio. During the colder months, she dedicates herself to working with clay, while the warmer seasons are reserved for plein-air painting.
The creations Johanna produces are inspired by her own preferences for household items. Many of the shapes and surface finishes she employs draw inspiration from the scenic coastal landscape of Maine.
