Portland Pottery

Portland Pottery is a creative community of over 500 potters, between students, staff, & instructors. There's always somebody busy throwing, glazing, handbuilding, or loading & unloading kilns. Many of Maine's working clay artists got their start at Portland Pottery.

We have 3 locations in Portland, Maine:

• Washington Ave Studio (118 Wash Ave): This is home to our high-fire reduction kiln and 370 pottery students! You are welcome to come by for a tour of the studio and/or browse our studio gallery, which presents pieces made by our students and teachers (many of which are made and fired right in the studio!).
• Fox St Studio (49 Fox St): Our mid-fire studio is 1 year old!!! This second location started as a space for intro students and kiddos to get messy, but has turned into a full-blown teaching and learning community studio. We offer classes at all levels, family classes, private lessons, and parties. Stop by for a tour!
• Supply Shop (220 Anderson St): Here, you can find all your pottery needs - kilns, clay, wheels, tools, glazes, raw materials, and staff members full of information to share. Portland Pottery's Supply Shop will be open on Sat, May 3rd from 10am-5pm to support and celebrate the Maine Pottery Tour weekend. Please come by to browse our tools and materials, purchase clay, ask questions about our equipment (wheels, kilns, etc.), and meet the owners. If you are looking to pick up a large order, please come by during our normal business hours. This Pop Up Sale is a special, one-time opportunity, so come see what we're all about!
