My recent work in reduction fired stoneware has been in creating shifting glaze patterns which I call, "shape shifting" glaze. Also shown is recent work in stoneware and porcelain that was inspired by the life affirming vernal pools and natural life forms I have observed at the Viles Arboretum in Augusta, Maine. I fire my stoneware and porcelain pottery in a fuel burning reduction kiln, to 2300 F. There is always risk and mystery in this type of firing and always something to learn. I have often asked my terminally curious self why I subject myself to such uncertainty! Only one answer comes to mind, "The things we do for love." I am also always inspired by children and their art.
