I will be partcipating in the Maine Pottery Tour in 2025 with a pop-up shop outside D. Harwood Pottery in Winthrop (Central Leg).
Just your friendly neighborhood hobby potter here! I started my pottery journey in 2010 in New York City, where I learned and then later taught at several community studios until 2020. Since moving to Maine in 2021, I have been building out my practice in my home studio in Greene.
My pieces are typically wheel-thrown then hand-altered, but I really have no rules. Above all else, my practice allows me to engage with my creativity. When I make a piece that generates a strong reaction--due to its form, its surface, its feel in the hand, a whimsical detail, or anything else--I pursue and play with that element. I find my commitment to creative exploration of a theme inevitably produces cohesive collections.
I sell my work at Meraki Gallery in Harpswell, Maine (May-September). I don't ship my work, but I occasionally participate in makers' markets, and I produce made-to-order work locally. Please follow me or contact me on Instagram @juliemondro for updates!
